A Farm With A View...

I have to be the most lucky person in the world to live here with my hubby! Daily walks with the animals are so fun- here is a little bit of what we do...
Today's walking partner- Big Kitty. He is our old old barn cat.

A view from our driveway- toward our only neighbor.

Another view from our driveway, look at all the pretty sheep! :0)

Yesterday was the first day we turned the horses and llamas out on the back pasture. It is about 60 acres of trees, grass and a peaceful valley for them to wander all summer.

We bring them back to sleep up by the barn at night so they don't have to worry about coyotes.

The llamas are OUT of here!

Our horse Cricket is not ready to come back home- not even for a little grain!

Hope your day is going well, the sheep are working on an update for early tomorrow morning so stay tuned! You can sign up for our email update 'alerts' on the website too- www.homesteadwoolandgiftfarm.com

Chow for now peeps!

And then there were fleeces!

Happy Spring everyone! Sheep shearing day was April 2 here- squeee! If you are waiting for a sponsored fleece I am working away getting them sorted and ready for you. The sheep will send an email so you each have the details from the fleece!

If anyone is looking for fleeces, we have them! Lots of different sheep in our flock and we have coated or uncoated fleeces. Just send us an email if you don't see what you need on the website ok?

Fleeces waiting in the fiber palace!
Fleeces waiting in the 'wool shed' , once known as the garage!

AND llama & alpaca fleeces Jenny dropped off- squeee! Name your 'poison everyone- bwaaahahaha!
Wait a minute, does not look like a fleece to me? Nope, that is Miss Penny lamb mugging for the camera. She is so sweet- like her teeth? She cracks me UP!

Have a happy day everyone and look forward to hearing from you when you have time. Chow for now peeps!

A Blanket For Annie....

Once in a while I get the chance to work on a project that is not typical for my day. I love it! A gal contacted me to weave/create a throw/blanket for her using only our sheep's handspun yarn. It's been a fun, long road of challenge, trial and error since it has been a while since I wove a project of this size.

It is a reversible blanket, one side is sewn together with a simple blanket stitch. The other with a feather stitch I think my Grandma Lamp would be proud of? Let's hope! Lots of history and sheep karma are woven into this and I hope Annie likes it as much as the sheep and I do! (my photos stink so please bear with me- as usual!)

Hope you are all having a wonderful week- smooches from the sheep!!

Shearing day tomorrow!

Yeeeha! Our David the Wonder Shearer will be here bright and early tomorrow morning. We spent yesterday day afternoon locking the sheep in the barn. Then we got over an inch of rain last night- eek! Glad we decided to get that done so we have dry sheep tomorrow. (By the way, weathermen said not much chance of rain? Really??)

Today we are taking the sheep's coats off so we will get a preview of their gorgeous fleeces. We will post some pictures later on today. We are so thankful for all of you- you take such good care of our sheep! Have a happy day! The sheep are definitely planning on one tomorrow! Chow for now peeps!
